Extension
The Forest Ecosystems and Society Extension Program is a primary means of disseminating the information generated by Departmental and other research programs to woodland owners, practicing professional land managers, and the general public. Our broad, general goals are to:
- Promote good land stewardship
- Translate and disseminate research information
- Create positive attitudes toward active forest management for attainment of owner objectives, and
- Facilitate the exchange of operational technology among forest land managers.
Organizationally, Extension is linked to the USDA Extension Service through the College of Forestry Dean's Office. Extension specialist faculty, however, are directly supervised by the Department Head. The current Forest Science Extension Program includes the following personnel:
- Glenn Ahrens, Staff Chair, Forestry Faculty,Clatsop County Extension
- Mike Bondi, Staff Chair, Forestry Faculty, Clackamas County Extension
- Amy Grotta, Extension Forester, Columbia and Washington County Extention
- Viviane Simon-Brown, Sustainable Living
- Paul Oester, Extension Forester, Union County Extension
- Brad Withrow-Robinson, Extension Forester, Yamhill County Extension
